DEEP EXCAVATIONS AND SHORING
- Agua Caliente Hotel Resort & Spa, Rancho Mirage, CA : Steel soldier beams and wood lagging shoring system for 32-ft. deep excavation for a 17-story high-rise.
- Capitol Place Mixed Use, Omaha, NE : 16-ft. deep excavation for a subterranean parking garage. Shoring systems required on this project included soil nailing and shotcrete; soldier piles and lagging; and Shortec self-drilling panel shoring system.
- Gretna Aspen Creek Elementary School, Gretna, NE : 30-ft. deep trench excavation for 100 linear feet of sanitary sewer utility on a 25-acre site development. Soil layback with a minimum of 1:1 slope was utilized along with heavy trench shoring.
- Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Omaha, NE : 20-ft. deep excavation adjacent to existing over 100-year-old structure. Shoring system was Heliwall self-drilling panels for utility and foundation work. 16-ft. deep excavation of basement for new Annex building included excavation layback, stepping, and use of 16-ft. tall Heliwall self-drilling panels for earth shoring.
- Kohl’s Retrofit, Phoenix, AZ : Structural retrofit expansion with engineered downward and uplift shoring to the existing roof to extend the existing walls and expand the overall size of the 105,000 sq. ft. shell.
- The Reserve, Indian Wells, CA : 18-ft. deep excavation in sand with 2:1 slope layback and step excavation around the building to allow for construction of the subterranean CMU structural foundation.
DEEP FOUNDATIONS: AUGER-CAST PILES & MICRO-PILES
- 700-Ton Stretch Press Wichita, KS : Boeing Capitol Project. Equipment foundations, one 5-ton and one 50-ton bridge crane replacements, 226 auger-cast piles, sewer line re-routing, and 18-inch thick cast-in-place concrete walls.
- AKIII Parking Structure, Omaha, NE : Deep foundation system with 170 -16-inch auger cast piles supporting a 136,000 sq. ft., 4-level precast parking structure.
- Brotie IPAC Foundations, Wichita, KS : Boeing Capitol Project. Design-build. Four 80-ft. x 40-ft. x 16-ft. foundations with 360 auger-cast piles including a shoring wall.
- Capitol Place Mixed Use, Omaha, NE : Deep foundation micro-piles underpinning two existing adjacent structures. Intermediate foundation system with 411 vibro aggregate piers to support a 7-level structure.
- Hyatt Regency Hotel, Wichita, KS : Deep foundation system with over auger-cast piles supporting an 16-story post-tension concrete structure hotel, convention center, and 4-level parking structure.
- Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Omaha, NE : Deep foundation helical pier anchors (micro-piles) to support the new tower structure consisted of SS-150 anchors up to 14-inch diameter to a depth of approximately 40-ft. below the supporting footings for final torque of 4,200 ft-lbs.
- Strut Drill #3, Wichita, KS : Boeing Capitol Project. Two foundations requiring a single 800 cubic yard concrete placement for each with auger-cast piles as deep foundation support.
INTERMEDIATE FOUNDATIONS: AGGREGATE PIERS
- Capitol Place Mixed Use, Omaha, NE : Deep foundation micro-piles underpinning two existing adjacent structures. Intermediate foundation system with 411 vibro aggregate piers to support a 7-level structure.
- Gretna Aspen Creek Elementary School, Gretna, NE : Intermediate foundation system with 356 rammed aggregate piers (Geopiers) supporting 70,000 sq. ft. of CMU and structural steel structure.
- Hampton Inn Carter Lake, Carter Lake, IA : Intermediate foundation system with over 150 rammed aggregate piers (Geopiers) supporting three levels of wood frame construction.
- Hilton Garden Inn at Aksarben, Omaha, NE : Intermediate foundation system with over 200 rammed aggregate piers (Geopiers) supporting a 5-level structure.
- Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Omaha, NE : Intermediate foundation system with 260 rammed aggregate piers (Geopiers) supporting a 4-level annex building and sections of the 9.5-story CMU & steel shaft expansion structure.

- Agua Caliente Hotel Resort & Spa, Rancho Mirage, CA : 9-ft. thick mat foundation supporting a post-tension concrete super structure for a 17-story high-rise.
- Brotie IPAC Foundations, Wichita, KS : Boeing Capitol Project. Design-build. Four 80-ft. x 40-ft. x 16-ft. foundations with 360 auger-cast piles including a shoring wall.

- Canopy Row Apartments, Lincoln, NE : 77,000 sq. ft. and 53 units. Four story building with concrete podium structure at level one and three levels of wood framing above.
- Capitol Place Mixed Use, Lincoln, NE : 153,000 sq. ft. with 72 apartment units and penthouse residence. Urban site construction. Subterranean garage with 76 stalls. 6 levels above grade with level one retail/restaurant space and five levels of wood framing above the structural steel podium for apartments.
- Hilton Garden Inn At Aksarben, Omaha, NE : 86,000 sq. ft. mixed use hotel with 131 keys. Structural steel podium at level one with four levels of wood framing above. Restaurant with full-service commercial kitchen. Urban site construction.
- Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Omaha, NE : 154,000 sq. ft., 205-unit, high-rise hotel including historical restoration tax credits. High-end steakhouse restaurant, bar lounges, pre-function and meeting spaces, a historic ballroom, and two open-air rooftop multi-use terraces. New annex building with fitness, pre-function, and meeting space. Structural steel podium with hotel units above. Includes enclosed connecting walkway between the historic hotel and annex building.
- Level Apartments at Village Gardens, Lincoln, NE : 182,000 sq. ft. and 164 units on a 2.7-acre site. Partial underground 114-stall parking garage with precast podium above. 3,500 SF of retail space. Four levels of wood framing above the podium.
- The Reserve, Indian Wells, CA : Precast hollow core podium on CMU block structure for a subterranean cart barn for this 30,000 sq. ft. private facility.
CAST-IN-PLACE (CIP) CONCRETE STRUCTURES
- Agua Caliente Parking Structure, Rancho Mirage, CA : 720,000 sq. ft., 4-level parking structure with 1,281 stalls. CIP concrete structure with a tensioned-membrane roof structure.
- Canopy Row Apartments, Lincoln, NE : 77,000 sq. ft. and 53 units. Four-story building with concrete podium structure at level one and three levels of wood framing above.
- Capitol Place Mixed Use, Omaha, NE : 31,000 sq. ft. subterranean parking structure with CIP concrete perimeter wall foundations. Shaft walls extending up to the podium deck at level two.
- Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Omaha, NE : 11,000 sq. ft. subterranean CIP concrete basement structure for annex building. Steel structure with podium deck at level two.
- Level Apartments at Village Gardens, Lincoln, NE : 41,000 sq. ft. and 114-stall parking garage with 14-inch-thick CIP concrete wall foundations supporting a precast podium.
TILT-UP CONCRETE STRUCTURES
- Kohls’ Scottsdale, AZ : 95,000 sq. ft. ground up, concrete tilt-up panels, structural steel, CMU, and Garcy stud wall panels
- Lot 18, Carlsbad, CA : 89,000 sq. ft. office shell space constructed of tilt-up concrete panels. This building was constructed to be divisible and has expandable mezzanine capabilities which can accommodate one or two tenants up to 110,000 sq. ft.
POST-TENSION CONCRETE STRUCTURES
- Agua Caliente Hotel, Rancho Mirage, CA : 17-story high-rise with a post-tension concrete super structure using a handset forming system on top of a 22-ft. deep basement and a 9-ft. thick mat foundation.
- Hyatt Regency Hotel, Wichita, KS : 16-story post-tension concrete structure using flying table form system. Included a 4-level parking structure.
PRECAST CONCRETE STRUCTURES
- AKIII Parking Structure, Omaha, NE : 136,000 sq. ft., 4-level parking structure built with precast concrete columns, double-T’s, and wall panels
- Level Apartments at Village Gardens, Lincoln, NE : 41,000 sq. ft. of precast hollow core supported by precast columns and beams along with perimeter support by 14-inch-thick CIP concrete foundation walls.
- Lincoln Airport Authority Building 96, Lincoln, NE : 109,000 sq. ft. precast panel structure with steel roof joists and deck. A mix of office space and industrial space.
- Millard West High School, Omaha, NE : Precast concrete panels and structural steel for the main structure and masonry exterior skin.
- The Reserve, Indian Wells, CA: Precast hollow core odium on CMU block structure for a subterranean cart barn for this 30,000 sq. ft. private facility.
CMU BLOCK STRUCTURES
- Gretna Aspen Creek Elementary School, Gretna, NE : 70,000 sq. ft. CMU block and steel structure along with precast hollow core for the FEMA shelter.
- Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Omaha, NE : 8-story structural CMU block tower addition to the existing structure. Structural steel infill at every level.
- Sunset Vista (K-8), Glendale, AZ : 91,000 sq. ft. middle school with CMU block & steel structure.
- The Reserve, Indian Wells, CA : CMU block structure for the subterranean cart barn supporting a precast hollow core podium for this 30,000 sq. ft. private facility.
- The River Theater, Rancho Mirage, CA : 35-ft. high CMU block walls for this 76,000 sq. ft. 12-plex movie theater. Balance of the main structure includes structural steel.
STRUCTURAL STEEL
- Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage, CA : 138,000 sq. ft. structural steel frame gaming venue. 9-month fast-track schedule.
- Capitol Place Mixed Use, Omaha, NE : 61,000 sq. ft. structural steel frame on two levels for a steel podium deck at level two. Steel frame sits on top of a subterranean CIP concrete garage foundation perimeter and shaft walls.
- Gretna Aspen Creek Elementary School, Gretna, NE : 70,000 sq. ft. CMU and structural steel structure along with precast planks for the FEMA shelter.
- Joe Baca Middle School, Bloomington, CA : 159,000 sq. ft. structural steel framing for six 2-story buildings.
- Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel, Omaha, NE : Structural steel expansion on level 8 of the existing structure to enclose the south wing hotel unit space. Structural steel infill for eight levels connecting the existing structure to the new 8-story CMU block tower. Structural steel infill at basement ceiling structure after removal of original. New Annex building with steel structure podium deck at level 2. Enclosed structural steel connecting walkway between the historic hotel and annex building.
- Lincoln Airport Authority Building 96, Lincoln, NE : 109,000 sq. ft. precast panel structure with steel roof joists and deck. A mix of office space and industrial space.
- The River Theater, Rancho Mirage, CA : 76,000 sq. ft. of structural steel framing with CMU block support structure, and structural steel framing for the stadium seating in 12 theaters.
COLD FORMED METAL FRAMING SYSTEMS (CFMF)
- Salt Creek Assisted Living, Lincoln, NE : 93,000 sq. ft. with 62 AL units and 25 MC units. Three levels of design-build prefabricated CFMF system supported by structural steel.
WOOD FRAME STRUCTURES
- Level Apartments at Village Gardens, Lincoln, NE : 162,000 sq. ft. of wood framing in four levels of wood framing on a precast podium for 164 units.
- Low-Rise Hotels : Eighteen 3-level and 4-level wood frame hotels totaling over 969,000 sq. ft. and 1,600 keys. Brands: Home2Suites, Tru by Hilton, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Hampton Inn. Constructed throughout the states of Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and Colorado. Contract formats: lump sum, GMP design-assist, and design-build.
- Northern Lights Apartments, Lincoln, NE : 164,000 sq. ft. and 171 units. Four buildings, three stories each on grade and three garage structures.
- Pemberly Place, Lincoln, NE : 130,000 sq. ft. assisted living facility with 80 AL units and 20 MC units. Two wood frame buildings with three levels.
- Salt Creek Apartments, Lincoln, NE : 184,000 sq. ft. and 190 units. Five buildings, three stories each and four garage structures.
- Southwest Village Apartments, Lincoln, NE : 157,000 sq. ft. and 121 units. Four buildings, three stories each and seven garage structures.
- The Reserve, Indian Wells, CA : 30,000 sq. ft. golf clubhouse, tennis and fitness facility, and administration center with exposed heavy timber structure.
- The River at Rancho Mirage, Rancho Mirage, CA : 225,000 sq. ft. retail and entertainment center including casual dining and specialty retail.
- Titan Springs Apartments, Papillion, NE : 143,000 sq. ft. and 132 units. Four buildings, all three story wood frame construction.
- Village West Apartments, Lincoln, NE : 205,000 sq. ft. and 240 units. Five buildings of wood frame construction three stories each with separate garage structures.
TENSILE STRUCTURES
- Agua Caliente Parking Structure, Rancho Mirage, CA : 180,000 sq. ft. of PTFE tension membrane roof structure on top of a 4-level parking structure as a roof shade system. System includes structural steel supports anchored to the concrete columns of the garage structure. PTFE fabric and cable systems with lighting integrated by concealment in the structural steel. This tension membrane structure was installed by a design-build subcontractor under Chris Heese’s management as the general contractor.
- Aruba International Airport, Oranjestad, Aruba : 35,000 sq. ft. of PTFE membrane covered walkways with integrated gutter designs; 35-ft. tall portal entry feature incorporated with the design of a glass canopy structure. In-house engineering, design, and installation of the cable and membrane system.
- BC Place, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada : 79,000 sq. ft. of PTFE membrane sub-panels and full-bay replacement project for the roof system of the BC Place Stadium that hosted the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. In-house engineering, design, and installation of the cable and membrane system.
- London Olympic Stadium Banner Wrap, London, United Kingdom : 208,000 sq. ft. of LDPE material for 360 rotating panels and steel-embedded tensioning system which surrounded the 2012 Summer Olympic Games host stadium. LDPE is a flexible, lightweight, and transparent plastic that is recyclable. After the 2012 Olympics, this material was removed and is in a recycling program in the United Kingdom. Each panel was 8-ft. wide and 80-ft. tall and could rotate 90 degrees from top to bottom in a helix form. In-house engineering, design, and installation of the membrane system.
- Oceanside 620 Digesters, San Francisco, CA : 46,000 sq. ft. of PTFE membrane to clad four egg-shaped digesters and their fin structures using stainless steel as the standoff structure with custom extrusions and isolating requirements between differing steel materials. In-house engineering, design, steel fabrication & erection, and installation of the cable & membrane system.
- San Diego International Airport Terminal 2 Smart Curb Pavilion, San Diego, CA : 70,000 sq. ft. of PTFE membrane. Included 18 Pavilion canopies, 28 Elevated Department Roadway canopies, 35 ground structure canopies, and two long-term parking canopies. Systems for electrical lighting, low voltage, and storm drainage were integrated into the arched and cantilevered steel support structures. In-house engineering, design, steel fabrication & erection, and installation of the cable and membrane system.
- Shops at Summerlin, Summerlin, NV : 58,000 sq. ft. of PTFE membrane and 1,300 sq. ft. of ETFE membrane. Over 253 tons of structural steel include double-rolled steel canopy shapes and a 65-ft. high conical structure. Architectural shapes were the priority during design for steel fabrication in lieu of just a support system for the fabric. Twelve cantilevered tensile structures plus a mast-supported conical tensile structure which was supported on four separate buildings. In-house engineering, design, steel fabrication & erection, and installation of the cable and membrane system.
